Savina P. Playter
Is admitted to the New York State Bar and the Eastern and Southern Federal District Courts. She has a Juris Doctor Degree from the CUNY School of Law; a Masters in Public Administration Degree from Troy State University; and a Baccalaureate Degree from Queens College. Pursuing an interest in Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, Ms. Playter also studied at Oxford University in Oxford, England .
She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Walden University. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Playter was a Court Attorney to the Honorable La Tia W. Martin, Bronx Supreme Court Justice. Ms. Playter’s experiences have spanned the areas of employment, labor, housing, immigration, criminal and family law in both federal and state courts.
She has worked in private, nonprofit and public sector jobs including, the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity; the Family Court; the National Labor Relations Board; the National Employment Law Project; the Taxi Workers Alliance; the law firm of Lipman and Plesur; and the Criminal Justice Act Panel. In 2005, Ms. Playter coordinated the "Removing Obstacles to Justice for Immigrants" program for Federal and State judges.
In 2006, she presented a matrimonial CLE program to CLRN Family Law Attorneys. Ms. Playter is currently an Adjunct Law Professor at Marymount College . She coaches in the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition for junior high school students and is a member of several Bar Associations. Ms. Playter is a Board member of the CUNY School of Law Alumni Association and a former CLEO and Peggy Browning Fellow. She has won accolades for her participation in the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial and the Frederick Moot Court Competitions. She was haled as the Best Oralist in the Burns/Gilbert Memorial Moot Court Competition and her community service efforts were commended in her receipt of a BLSA award.
